Diversity Enlarges Our Vision Marriage Meditation # 14

meditation on mature love

Wisdom From the World

“In contrast to symbiotic union, mature love is union under the condition of preserving one’s integrity, and one’s individuality. In love the paradox occurs that two beings become one and yet remain two.” – Erich Fromm

Wisdom From the Word

“You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules overall, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.

But that doesn’t mean you should all look and speak and act the same.” – Ephesians 4:4-7  (The Message)

Keep Me Real, Lord!

Lord, help me to grow in my ability to voice my perspective, my needs, and my preferences while at the same time maintaining an openness to my LifeMate’s needs, preferences, and perspectives. Keep me curious, interested and open when my partner introduces me to the unfamiliar.
