You Are Not Me And I Am Not You

Marriage Moments will include questions and/or exercises to start conversations. They will provide an an opportunity to know yourself and your partner better. Check in with your LifeMate to see if this is a good time for them to answer these questions. If it is not a convenient time schedule a later time that would work for both of you. When you are the listener, show up with an interested and curious attitude. Be careful not to interrupt. After one of you has answered the questions, turn the tables and give the other partner their chance.

Have fun getting to know each other better!

Go to a movie that celebrates differences.

Go to your favorite bookstore and go to the comedy/humor section. Find jokes about couple’s differences and read them to each other. Make certain that you get a cappuccino or something equally decadent to make it special. Then return the books to the shelves and go home.

The same exercise could be done by searching the internet together. Just make certain that you share something fun together at the same time, like an ice cream sundae.

Reminisce about your differences and even a time where they really benefitted your relationship.

Tell your partner if there is something you enjoy that you would like him/her to do with you at least once.
